En esta exposición nos adentramos en el vasto universo pictórico impregnado de compromiso político del genial artista valenciano Nassio Bayarri. Adentrándonos en la serie “Las Guerras”, Bayarri plasmó en lienzos y tablas de gran formato el horror y la angustia de la violencia que marcó la última década del siglo XX.
Los nombres de cada obra nos remiten a los territorios en conflicto que treinta años más tarde parecen estar de nuevo en el punto de mira. Nuestras sociedades parecen condenadas a repetir, una y otra vez, los mismos errores del pasado.
La fragilidad de la memoria es palpable, y resulta desolador constatar cómo el olvido es fomentado por aquellos que siempre obtienen beneficio de las guerras ajenas.
Esta selección de obras está compuesta principalmente por piezas de la colección permanente del museo, así como por obras prestadas por la familia. Estas conforman casi la totalidad de las creaciones que el artista realizó en esta época, dentro de la serie que él mismo denominó “Las Guerras”.
Nassio,recordado principalmente por su trabajo escultórico y obra pública, tiene un interesantísimo legado pictórico que que incluye no solo óleo y lienzo sino collages, murales, instalaciones, etc… que arrancan desde finales de los 50 hasta 2023, año en el que falleció.
Perteneciente al grupo Parpalló, Nassio fue precursor del movimiento cosmoísta, un tema recurrente a lo largo de toda su trayectoria artística y claramente distinguible en su obra pictórica.
In this exhibition, we delve into the vast pictorial universe imbued with political commitment of the brilliant Valencian artist Nassio Bayarri. Immersing ourselves in the series “The Wars,” Bayarri captured on large canvases and boards the horror and anguish of the violence that marked the last decade of the 20th century.
The names of each work refer us to the conflict territories that thirty years later seem to be back in the spotlight. Our societies seem doomed to repeat, time and again, the same mistakes of the past.
The fragility of memory is palpable, and it is disheartening to note how forgetfulness is encouraged by those who always benefit from others’ wars.
This selection of works is mainly composed of pieces from the museum’s permanent collection, as well as works loaned by the family. These comprise almost all of the creations that the artist made during this time, within the series he himself called “The Wars.”
Nassio, primarily remembered for his sculptural work and public art, has an incredibly interesting pictorial legacy that includes not only oil and canvas but also collages, murals, installations, etc., spanning from the late ’50s to 2023, the year of his passing.
Belonging to the Parpalló group, Nassio was a precursor of the cosmoist movement, a recurring theme throughout his artistic career and clearly distinguishable in his pictorial work.
